Established in 2017, INWFMA is a collective of neighborhood farmers’ markets serving the Greater Spokane Area. While we celebrate each market’s unique placement and contribution to Spokane’s community, we also recognize that we are stronger together. During the fall of 2016, we saw the value in coming together as a group to share our best practices and ways we could reduce unnecessary duplication at our markets where possible. This was the impetus for INWFMA’s inception: to create a cohesive unit of farmers markets sharing administrative resources, supplies, and programs. Ours is based upon a similar and successful model in King County, WA.
We intend to introduce that model here in Eastern Washington, becoming stronger together while still respecting and our market autonomy. The INWFMA was officially incorporated in 2017 and represents so much more than just helping farmers markets sell goods – we help convene people, connect them to healthy foods, get them active, and engage them in programs that raise awareness and build community.
